Project Management Methodology 
  
VIVA uses the Project Management principles from PMI and Rational to deliver high quality deliverables to all clients. Further, VIVA’s approach to project management is a collaborative one, with interactivity between the project team either on-site or off-site and the client throughout the various phases of the project lifecycle. VIVA makes the work progress on each phase of the SDLC available for client review through our web based project management tool (iPM).The salient features of the iPM are:

Software Design and Development Methodology 

VIVA follows the iterative method of development following the Rational Unified Process (RUP).
Every large web development project is divided into four phases namely Inception, Elaboration, Construction and Transition. Under each of the phases, there are iterations. Each phase may contain one or more iterations. The tasks in each iteration are grouped into one or more of the following disciplines or activity types; Business Modeling, Requirements, Analysis and Design, Implementation, Test, Deployment, Project Management, Configuration and Change Management and Environment. Under each discipline, tasks and artifacts are created. 
At the end of the software development life cycle are the activities of training, product support (help desk) and maintenance of the application. VIVA uses iPM to provide these functionalities. Our proposed methodologies and tools are given in the table below.  

 
Case Studies 

Developing a powerful search EngineSituation:
A successful Internet Brokerage Company needed to bring in a team of developers and a Project Manager to optimize their databases, fine tune the processes, develop a powerful search engine and scale up their networking and system administration to meet increase in the range of service offerings and volume of transactions.

Critical Issue:
On-site availability of experienced internet architects and programmers for the project duration and ability to search and transfer packets of information seamlessly.

Vision:
The system should be able to handle the transactions and search and transfer packets of information seamlessly.

Solution Provided by VIVA:
VIVA designed an advanced search engine for handling the financial directory listing. We also designed and developed a web based B2B data exchange application using XML and web distributed data exchange (WDDX) to manage the business transactions with the Content/ data providers. We also provided the SQL Server Database management support.

Result:
The customer was able to increase profitability and substantiate a fresh round of VC investment into their company. 

Personalization of Employment ServiceSituation:
At this Government agency, the management proposed to increase the level of utilization of their employment training service by interconnecting various businesses and customers.

Critical Issue:
Ability to have on-line query and reporting, personalized service. Ability to connect the web application and the mainframe database.
